Bert's Cabins was started when Alice and Bert Pfeifer bought the forty acres in the late 1930s. The couple worked diligently to build cabins on the property. They tried to name it Parkview Cabins (owing to its proximity to Itasca State Park) but everyone just called it Bert's, so eventually they changed the name. In 1961 they put in a pool, the first at a northern Minnesota resort.

Now it's run by second generation ownership, Dave and Pat Evenwoll (Pat is Alice and Bert's daughter). Comprised of twelve quaint retro brown cabins, generations of visitors have been finding rest and tranquility at Bert's.
